What if we told you that EPCOT’s iconic Spaceship Earth was coming to life in a way we’ve never seen before? Do we have your attention? Good! Disney just dropped a TON of news about the 2024 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, and yes, a miniature Spaceship Earth is part of the festivities. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s back up for a moment.
The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is a seasonal event that happens in EPCOT each winter. The festival takes place all around EPCOT from November 29th through December 30th. It’s a short little festival, but there’s a LOT to see and do during the event. Let’s see what’s coming to EPCOT this year!
Let’s start with some fun news! Disney’s Festival Team teamed up with Walt Disney Imagineering for something BIG — an 8-foot-tall gingerbread display inspired by Spaceship Earth. How COOL is that?!
This geodesic sphere (yes, a sphere-shaped gingerbread house) will be made up of hundreds of gingerbread triangles, complete with lights and music! This epic addition will live in CommuniCore Hall. Look out for the special Celebration Countdown, too!
Speaking of CommuniCore Hall, Disney has even more in store for this new area! In fact, there will be a new “enchanting forest with the Glittering Grove,” presented by Balsam Hill. We’re expecting some Hallmark-style twinkling trees as part of this new display. Bring it, Disney!
Oh, and just like at EPCOT’s previous festival, CommuniCore Hall will also feature a variety of festival merchandise, so be sure to check it out! Here’s a preview of the new Minnie ears.
Now, it’s not an EPCOT festival without some FOOD, so let’s talk about what’s NEW this year. We still don’t have a full list of Festival of the Holidays menus yet, but Disney did share that two new Holiday Kitchens will arrive at CommuniCore Hall!
First, before we tell you the name of the newest Food Booth coming to the festival, we need you to brace yourselves. It’s a great name. Prepare to get some sweets at the Experimental Prototype Cookies of Tomorrow kitchen, serving cookies like the gingerbread triangles used to make the Gingerbread Spaceship Earth next door. Disney confirmed that you will be able to buy a special decorating kit to make a gingerbread creation of your own. How fun!
Additionally, you can enjoy some iconic festival snacks at the Favorites of Festivals Past, located outside CommuniCore Hall.
But wait! There’s MORE to enjoy this year! At CommuniCore Plaza, Disney announced a new, complimentary activity: snowflake decorating! After you create your own snowflake, you can listen to the Holiday Storytellers around World Showcase, visit the Living with the Land attraction (featuring a special Glimmering Greenhouses overlay), and more!
Finally, be sure to hit the NEW seasonal display located along the walkway between the Imagination! pavilion and World Showcase. Scentsy is hosting a new Festive Fragrances experience, where you can visit a snow globe garden filled with sweet holiday scents. If you’re familiar with the Smellephants on Parade display in Magic Kingdom, we have a feeling this new EPCOT addition will be similar!
