Do you know what September is in Central Florida? It’s hurricane season!
We’re in the time of year when hurricanes are more likely to form, and that means you have to be vigilant when planning your vacations and travels. We keep a close eye on the weather to see if there’s a chance of anything developing, and right now, there’s an area of interest.
Eric Burris, a meteorologist from WESH Orlando, has shared some updates about a low pressure system in the Caribbean. Currently, there are two possible ideas as to what could happen here — it could weaken and work west, or it could strengthen and head for Florida. However, it’s still too early to know which direction it will take.
Boy, the tropical hype machine has begun.
For now, there are two main ideas on the main model guidance;
Euro says weak and sloppy low bubbles up, and works west.
GFS says a tropical storm or hurricane, and moves closer to Florida.

In addition to that low pressure area, another spot in the Caribbean has been marked as an “area of interest” by the National Hurricane Center. It has a slightly higher chance of developing into a storm than the other area.
The area to watch next week in the Caribbean has been highlighted by the NHC as an area of interest.
Let’s keep CLOSE watch on this one friends… pic.twitter.com/dz9jNMLLSj

Both of these areas will be in close watch over the next week as we look out for possible updates. If you’re traveling to the east coast in the coming days, you may want to keep a close eye on the weather so that you’re prepared.
For those traveling in the coming weeks, it’s a good idea to start forming your backup plan now, just in case weather causes things to go awry. If you’re heading to Disney World, you can rest assured that the resort has many contingencies in place in case of hurricanes or tropical storms, and we’ll keep you updated if there are any necessary closures.
