If you’ve been busy planning your next visit to Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure park, you may need to check those plans a little closer soon!

While we’ve all been screaming over Universal Orlando’s newest entertainment, largest daytime parade to date, AND a new land it’s all proof that Universal’s been hard at work. Sometimes that hard work takes some of our favorite rides and attractions out of commission for a spell and although there’s a few we’ve been waiting for a reopening word on, there seem to have been a few new additions recently added to the refurbishment list!
Planning your perfect day and ultimate visit to Universal Studios in Florida might hit a snag if you were really planning to see, do, and experience it all! While that’s an ambitious goal to keep up with through your vacation and days experiencing the theme parks, your list of rides and attractions that will be available soon just got a tad smaller.

Routine refurbishments are fairly common for regular ride maintenance and upkeep so it stands to reason that from time to time, Universal is forced to take away a few of our beloved attractions. We already knew that the ever-popular Pteranodon Flyers and The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle were still on a hiatus, but several new attractions will be joining them soon!

Me-Ship, The Olive will begin a fairly lengthy refurbishment starting on October 21st and going through December 4th, 2024.

This is followed by the closure of Jurassic Park River Adventure from January 6th to 23rd, 2025.

Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge Rat Barges joins in the fun for a planned extended refurbishment starting on January 24th, 2025, and ending on March 15th, 2025.

If you’re left feeling crushed that several of Universal’s water rides will be closed in early January of next year, don’t worry! Universal is expecting to return Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls to us before the inter-tub river ride takes a vacation on January 2nd, 2025. Admittedly though, we wouldn’t totally blame you if you’re not down to be riding water rides in the cooler months of Florida anyways!

Of course with any planned refurbishment, there’s always a possibility that these closures could be extended or start earlier than anticipated. You can rest assured though, that we’ll be keeping a close watch over them as their planned closures draw nearer!
