Planning to fly soon and feeling stressed?
We totally get it — flying can be super stressful, no matter where you’re traveling. Packing? Stressful! Layovers? MAJORLY stressful? And choosing what airline you’re going to fly can also be difficult. If you’ve chosen to fly Frontier Airlines, here are some unspoken rules you need to know before you fly.
You Get What You Pay For
Frontier Airlines is a budget airline, meaning you’re getting what you pay for. That means you’ll safely get to your next location, but the complimentary snacks, WiFi, and in-flight entertainment you may be used to on other airlines will not be available.
You’ll also be paying extra for more bags, or if you DO want WiFi and snacks, those will cost an extra fee. These extra amenities are available, but if you’re traveling on Frontier, it’s likely you’re traveling on a tighter budget, so paying for those amenities may not be what you want.
There’s nothing wrong with this, though…as long as you know what you’re paying for! If you don’t know this about the airline, you may be disappointed and frustrated to find this out, but that’s part of the reason you’re paying such a lower price!
More Layovers May Be in Your Future
While Frontier is definitely a large budget airline, it’s not the largest, which means it’s likely that you could be facing more layovers depending on where you’re flying. Flight availability can be limited depending on your destination!
This also means that your travel day could be longer than you sometimes want, because layovers can range from a half hour to multiple hours. If that’s what you’re willing to do to get the cheapest fare, go for it!
But know that this also means you may end up on a roundup journey to your final destination, which can be frustrating and sometimes NOT feel worth the money you’re saving. While Frontier does appear to be expanding into additional airports and traveling along more routes, it still may be a while until you see a direct flight that fits what you need.
There’s ONLY Economy
Since everyone is paying cheaper fares to board, that means that, in the words of High School Musical, you’re all in this together. That’s right, there’s only economy seating.
So yes, there’s no first class, business class, or preferred seating at all. All the seats are the same, and none of them get any perks that others don’t. This won’t be an issue for many people, BUT again, if you don’t know about this ahead of time and it was something you were expecting, it may be an unwelcome surprise.
This is great because you won’t have to try and decide if it’s worth it to upgrade — it’s just one price and one level of seating!
