The Unexpected PROBLEM with an 8:45PM EPCOT Dinner Reservation

There are a LOT of restaurants in Disney World…like a LOT.

Thankfully, we’ve collectively eaten at pretty much every single Disney World restaurant on property, so we can help lead you towards the best restaurants. But even the, there’s still a ton to choose from! However, your issues may not be over once you’ve finally booked that dining reservation and made it there one time, as one of our team members found out firsthand on her last trip.

She wanted to be sure she could watch the EPCOT fireworks while she ate, so she made a dining reservation at La Hacienda de San Angel! This is the second table service restaurant in the pavilion — NOT the one inside the pyramid!

This restaurant offers seating inside that has stunning views of World Showcase lagoon, giving you a fantastic view of the show if you book the perfect time. Our coworker booked her reservation for 8:45PM, knowing the show was going to start at 9PM that night.

Sure enough, she saw a fantastic show without having to be in a big crowd or try and fight for the best view, and had a pretty great meal in the process! Her waiter came out and showed her the dessert menu, getting her really excited to make her dessert choice.

However, a few minutes later her waiter came back with a somber expression — unfortunately the kitchen had closed just a few minutes prior and so she would not be able to get dessert that night. Now, is that the end  of the world? No, of course not! But it was a bit more of a disappointment since her waiter had just been there recommending desserts to her.

So unless you order your appetizer, entree, and dessert all at once before the park officially close (which you certainly can do!), or you eat REALLY fast, there’s a chance you may miss out on the chance of dessert when you book a later reservation.

And since the park was closed when she left the restaurant, she had to head straight to the exit — everything else was closed, so there was no chance to get dessert somewhere else.

However, she did get to walk out into a nearly-empty EPCOT, which is pretty cool! If you’re thinking of booking a later dining reservation in any of the 4 parks, keep in mind that when the park closes could very well be when the kitchen closes too.
