In case you missed it, some HUGE changes are coming to Genie+ in Disney World.

What we know now as Genie+ will become Lightning Lane Multi Pass and the current Individual Lightning Lane will be come Lightning Lane Single Pass. The name isn’t the only thing that’s changing though! You’ll now be able to book Lightning Lanes ahead of time (yes, similarly to FastPass+). Now, we’ve got another update that we hope provides relief to some Disney World visitors.
When the book ahead feature was announced earlier this week, there was one group of people who felt sabotaged by Disney — international visitors. That’s because originally you had to be in the U.S. to book Lightning Lanes.

Now, Disney has updated its policy. Visitors from the U.S. AND Canada will be able to use the My Disney Experience app to purchase pre-arrival Lightning Lane passes. This goes into effect on July 24th, 2024. There is currently no update for visitors from other countries.
We spoke with a Cast Member who confirmed the update.

People staying at a Disney World hotel can book Lightning Lanes for the length of their stay (no longer than 14 days) seven days before the check-in date. Everyone else can make Lightning Lane reservations three days before their visit.

You can only make three Lightning Lane selections in advance per day through Lightning Lane Multi Pass. This number does not count Lightning Lane Single Pass. However, there are tiers — see the full breakdown right here.

We know — there are still many questions to be answered about the new changes. We’ll be in the parks when this debuts letting you know everything we experience! In the meantime, here are some resources about it:

What do you think of the new Lightning Lane system debuting in July? Let us know in the comments.
I have seen many sources talk about how Canadians will be able to book prior to US arrival but nothing official from Disney. Hoping we get official confirmation soon as there continues to be feedback from Disney that this is not accurate. Very unfortunate for all international travelers
Still sucks for the UK visitors though, a rather large group of people that tend to stay longer and spend more! I’m not feeling the Disney love here… and yes, we can probably find workarounds by phoning Disney or using a VPN but why should we have to? There was a chance we might visit WDW next year from the UK but with this change, forget it. Taking my money elsewhere.
