Disney’s latest streaming offer might be one to jump on!

If you’re not currently a Disney+ subscriber — whether you’re lapsed or simply have never subscribed to the service — Disney’s latest deal on the service is definitely designed to allow you to jump on and catch up on everything the service is currently offering.
Currently, Disney is offering the Basic Tier of Disney+ for $1.99 a month for the first three months of service. This came through as an email so keep an eye on your inbox for the deal.

The service’s Basic level includes Disney+ (With Ads), supports up to 5.1 audio and 4K UHD & HDR video and allows streaming on multiple devices at a time. it usually costs $7.99 a month.

If you have no interest in being a long-term Disney+ subscriber, this new deal presents you the opportunity to dip in for a few months at a greatly reduced price and catch up on its newest offerings including Star Wars: The Acolyte, Doctor Who, and documentaries on American icons like The Beach Boys and Muppets creator Jim Henson.

The deal also comes at a time when many streaming services seem to be in a precarious position, as many in Hollywood seem to rethinking the massive shift to streaming that began several years ago. Disney+ has entered into several bundle deals with other streamers.

Earlier this year, CEO Bob Iger discussed how Disney was changing its approach to elements of streaming, saying, “As we got into the streaming business in a very, very aggressive way, we tried to tell too many stories. Basically we invested too much, way ahead of possible returns. It’s what led to streaming ending up as a $4 billion loss… There’s a very fine line that you can cross and get in trouble if your volume ends up diluting management’s attention to what is being made is right. And that’s what happened to us. So I have pulled that back.”

Disney+’s latest deal seems geared at bringing in new users and bringing back lapsed users, at great savings…temporarily. We’ll see if it works out. Stay tuned to AllEars for further coverage of Disney’s streaming efforts.
