We Just Found the WORST Person on Your Next Flight…and He’s Sharing His “Tips” Online

Let’s face it — flying is already a massive hassle. Even before your flight begins, you have to deal with packing, including figuring out what you can and can’t put in your carry-on and checked luggage.

Flying is a big hassle

Then when you get to the airport, you often have to deal with long lines to check in, as well as long security lines. Even the boarding experience can be frustrating and makes us feel a little cranky. So let’s talk about a viral “hack” that will make the experience worse for EVERYONE.

So a viral travel “hack,” recently appeared on LinkedIn, where a traveler talks about how you should board a flight with Group One, no matter what group you’re actually in. The post reads, “Board in Group 1, no matter your group. 99% of the time they don’t say anything. Worst case they tell you to wait, then you’re first when they call your actual group.”

Boarding

Okay, we’re just going to tell you now: do NOT be this person. Boarding Groups are assigned for a reason and just cutting in front of other groups is rude and unacceptable. Just because you can do it doesn’t mean you should. One comment on the LinkedIn post sums up how we feel: “If you want to board first, pay for it. You bought the cheapest basic economy ticket and you think you deserve to board faster than the person who paid for an upgraded seat.”

Air travel

Boarding groups exist for a reason — they help keep the boarding process orderly instead of everyone chaotically just trying to get on the plane at once. This “advice” slows down the process of boarding for everyone else, as well as creates more work for airline employees at the gate. But, again, it’s also just rude. If you want early boarding and it’s important to you, pay for the privilege.

Don’t be rude

We travel to Disney World a LOT, so we’ve been in plenty of situations where the boarding process feels like it takes an eternity. We get it! But, like many social media commenters seemed to agree, this isn’t a travel hack. It’s just bad advice.

Remember, it costs ZERO dollars to be kind, and we’re guessing that now this has been posted for ALL the internet to see, airline employees may take a closer look at those boarding group numbers.
