Disney Announces Opening Timeframe for Restaurants and More in New ‘Big Hero 6’ Land

Get ready folks, part of Disney California Adventure Park is TRANSFORMING!

San Fransokyo Square Construction

The Pacific Wharf area of the park has been under construction for a while as it becomes San Fransokyo Square, an area themed to ‘Big Hero 6.’ Once the new space fully opens, it’ll have a rethemed restaurant space called Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería. Plus, there will be new dishes at existing restaurants, a Baymax meet-and-greet, a new store, and more. But just when will all of this open? Well, we’ve got some more information.

Previously, Disney had shared that San Fransokyo Square would open “later this summer,” but now we’ve got some more specific details.

While construction in this area is ongoing and you’ll already notice some changes (like newer artwork or signs), here’s when more of the space will actually become available for guests to enjoy.

San Fransokyo Square

First up, in mid-July, you’ll be able to “sample new San Fransokyo selections at Lucky Fortune Cookery.” Also in mid-July, the Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería will officially open.

The Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería will be inspired by “its tri-cultural influences with signage in English, Japanese and Spanish. Outside will be a fun and inviting beer garden decorated with festoon lights and papel picado.”

In the following weeks, more dining options, unique shopping, and more are set to be introduced. Construction on this transformation is set to take place through mid-August.

Thus far, these are the things Disney has confirmed will be appearing in the rethemed land:

  1. New eats at Lucky Fortune Cookery
  2. Rethemed Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería restaurant space
  3. Special theming at locations across the area. Disney has said that places from the Cappuccino Cart outside of the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge to The Bakery Tour “will be decked out in street art and colorful banners celebrating the Big Hero 6 team after their victory over Yokai.”
  4. Meet-and-greet with Baymax and Hiro outside the Hamada Bot Shop
  5. New store — San Fransokyo Maker’s Market — with “unique apparel, homewares and more featuring Baymax and friends.”
  6. A vending machine with collectible medallions of Baymax and other iconic images from San Fransokyo
  7. New creations inspired by Asian cuisine
  8. Aunt Cass Café — which will serve dishes, soups, and more inspired by Japanese cuisine
  9. Rita’s Turbine Blenders — which will have margaritas and icy beverages
  10. New menu items at Cocina Cucamonga and Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop
