NEWS: Disney Announces Extended Fantasmic! Closure Following Fire Incident

There’s never a dull moment in the Disney parks! In fact, there is a LOT going on in Disneyland right now. If you haven’t heard, Disney is celebrating its 100th Anniversary, so naturally, the Sleeping Beauty castle got a little makeover for the celebration.

Not only that, but three popular rides could be changing soon, and we recently got an update on a huge Disneyland expansion project. If you’re headed to Disneyland Resort soon, Disney’s latest announcement may impact your trip.

On April 22nd, the Maleficent dragon in Disney’s Fantasmic! show caught on fire, and the show has been suspended since the incident.

Disney stated that similar fire effects would be suspended in all Disney parks following the accident while a team works to prevent future issues.

Now, Disney has released an updated statement saying the show will continue to be closed through at least Labor Day. Disney also mentioned exploring alternative entertainment options that guests can enjoy. (Credit @ScottGustin on Twitter)

Guests with a previously booked Fantasmic! dining package will be notified of the extended closure. Disney has also commented that Cast Members involved in the show are being supported with redeployment and cross-training opportunities.
