Disney World might be located in Florida — the state of sun, warmth, and seemingly perpetual summer — but Florida weather isn’t blazing hot all of the time!

We’ve seen severe weather (and even a tornado watch) impact the Disney area, but this coming week the weather will be challenging in a different way!
This is your official warning to pack those sweaters! Temperatures are about to drop in the Orlando area ahead of Christmas.
According to The Weather Channel, temperatures are set to drop into the low 50s tonight (December 16th). They will stay fairly cool on Saturday (17th) but drop even lower on the 18th — with lows in the high-40s. Things warm up for a bit after that, but then drop down again as Christmas gets near. Do you SEE some of those temperatures — down to lows in the 30s on December 23rd!

According to Eric Burris from WESH 2 News, a BIG cold front is set to impact Central Florida just in time for Christmas. We’re still a bit away from those dates, so things could change, but currently, Christmas Day could be chilly, with temperatures in the 40s and 50s.
Listen, I know it's a ways out… but it's not too early to start discussing the Christmas forecast…
The model data for now is pointing to a REALLY cold Christmas Eve, but a nice and chilly Christmas Day!
Either way, looks like nice sunshine, and perfect weather! pic.twitter.com/PcjhfxcvfO

Here’s some other cold-weather packing advice:
- Bring layers — while mornings or evenings can be cold, temperatures can warm up during the day. Layers allow you to adjust so you aren’t too cold or too hot.
- Don’t forget cozy socks, hats, and gloves too!
- Pack the ponchos — the last thing you want to be is cold AND wet. While cooler temperatures could be on the way, some rain is in the forecast too so you’ll want to be prepared.
- Be on the lookout for special snacks — sometimes in cooler temperatures, hot drinks (like the Spiced Surabat Cider at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo) can pop up. Be on the lookout for these treats during your trip!
- Keep an eye out for shorter wait times at water rides — if you wear your poncho and can avoid getting soaked, you could get some shorter waits on water rides that others aren’t willing to get on in the cold!
- Be on the lookout for closures — right now, Blizzard Beach is not showing any operating hours for December 16th, 17th, or 18th. It shows hours for the 19th, but things are subject to change.
