Sad news for Wonder Woman fans this week!
Since the news that James Gunn and Peter Safran would be heading the newly formed DC Studios, many have wondered about the future of Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League. Now, we have our answer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 has been canceled following a change in direction at Warner Brothers earlier this year.
In October, it was announced that James Gunn and Peter Safran would be heading the newly formed DC Studios, The new DC Studios is replacing DC Films, and many fans have been wondering how the transition would affect the future of their favorite characters. While this may be a welcome change if you’re a fan of Marvel — DC has communicated plans to copy Marvel’s content strategy — it is still unclear what is in store for some other anticipated films like Man of Steel 2, of which Henry Cavill announced his return through his Instagram in October.
The cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 came as a bit of a surprise, however, as the would-be star of the film, Gal Gadot, shared a tweet expressing her gratitude for the role, just one day prior to the news breaking. It is unclear if she was aware of the plans to scrap the film at the time.
