NEWS: A Third 'Princess Diaries' Film Is in the Works at Disney

For many fans, the love of Disney all started with a movie.

And for those who grew up wishing they could be the next Disney Princess, there was one movie in particular that changed everything — The Princess Diaries. The early 2000s hit was so popular it even garnered a sequel — and now a third Princess Diaries movie is in the works!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney is coming back to The Princess Diaries with a third film.

Not many details are known just yet, but Aadrita Mukerji is currently working on a script for the next installment. Mukerji has worked on television shows like Supergirl, Scorpion, Reacher, and Quantum Leap.

As of now, Anne Hathaway does not have a deal in place to return, but she has publicly shared her support of another movie in the past.

Previously, Julie Andrews shared in an interview that she wouldn’t necessarily be on board for a third film, stating, “it’s too far down the line now to go back to it.” The original film’s director, Garry Marshall, passed away in 2016 and Andrews felt as though the time had passed.
