Will ‘Moon Knight’ Get a Season 2? Here’s What the Director Said.

Marvel certainly likes to keep us on our toes.

Between switched release dates, a bold and unexpected exploration of the multiverse, and a study hinting at an uncertain future for Marvel’s Disney+ original series, we’ve learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to the MCU. The same goes for their latest original series, Moon Knight, which just had its finale on Disney+ this week. While there were enough elements episode 6 of the series to confuse fans as it was, there’s even more uncertainty when it comes to the future of this character. Spoilers ahead for the season finale of Moon Knight!

The season 1 finale of Moon Knight concluded the season in the only way Moon Knight could be completed: with heartfelt resolutions and a heck-of-a-lot of questions. With the reveal of the titular character’s third alter, Jake Lockley, in the end credits of the finale, one would assume that Marvel has more planned for the hero.

Deadline spoke with series episodic director and executive producer, Mohamed Diab, and executive producer, Grant Curtis. Both said they were not sure what was next for Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight. So far, there has been no confirmation of a season two of the series.

Diab also noted that while he doesn’t know what’s next for Moon Knight, the continuation of his story could come as something other than a tv show. He said, “Marvel doesn’t go with a conventional way, so even if they like the character and want to extend the world, it could be season 2, it could be a standalone film, or he can join another superhero’s journey.”

Diab was hopeful that we would see Moon Knight again, saying, “We never discussed it being a season 2, but one day there’s going to be an expansion, but I don’t know how it’s going to look like.” Hopefully, this means we haven’t seen the last of Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley.

It’s hard to know what’s coming next for Moon Knight, as the Disney+ series is his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s the first time an MCU show has revolved around a character we hadn’t seen on screen before, and Moon Knight didn’t really interact with existing MCU characters in season 1, so there’s no real precedent for what comes next.
