Pixar just made a HUGE change to its leadership team.

The company is coming off the high of the success of Turning Red, which recently premiered on Disney+. The film became a hit with subscribers and is still a hot topic on social media (not to mention there’s a TON of merchandise dedicated to it). Now, its filmmakers have been promoted.
According to Variety, Turning Red producer Lindsey Collins and director Domee Shi have both been promoted to leadership roles within Pixar. Collins will take over a new position, as senior vice president of development. Her responsibilities will have her overseeing the development of features and streaming.

In a statement to Variety, Collins said, “As I reflect on my 25 years at Pixar, the pride and gratitude I have is surpassed only by the excitement I feel stepping into this new role. Pixar has always been a place that seeks to delight and surprise audiences and I am thrilled to be able to expand on that legacy and help shape what comes next, surrounded by some of the most diverse, unique, and inspiring filmmakers and voices working today.”
Collins has been with Pixar for almost 25 years and has acted as co-producer on WALL-E, producer of Finding Dory, and vice president of development. She also helped launch SparkShorts.

Pixar named Shi as vice president of creative — she joins directors Andrew Stanton, Peter Sohn, and Dan Scanlon in that title. Her responsibilities include guiding filmmakers as part of the Pixar Braintrust.
Shi started her Pixar career as a story artist on Inside Out. She also worked on The Good Dinosaur, Incredibles 2, and Toy Story 4. Her short, Bao, won the 2018 Academy Award for best animated short. With Turning Red, she became the first woman to ever solo direct a Pixar feature film.
