If You Don’t Already Own NFTs, Disney’s Latest Collection Might Change Your Mind

NFTs, the metaverse, and the future of the digital realm. It seems like EVERYONE is talking about these things lately — including Disney and former Disney executives.

Looking good, Mickey!

Well if you’ve already got your fair share of NFTs or you just love Disney and want to know what they’re doing in this space, then buckle up and break open those digital piggy banks. It’ll be time to go Disney NFT shopping soon!

According to Medium, a new Mickey and Friends NFT Collection will be releasing TOMORROW on the VeVe app for iOS and Android. The NFT collection will be released tomorrow (January 29th) at 8AM PT, so set those alarms and download the app to get ready.

Not sure what an NFT is? It stands for non-fungible token. According to CNN, “NFTs transform digital works of art and other collectibles into one-of-a-kind, verifiable assets that are easy to trade on the blockchain.” They are unique. Like Pokemon cards or a limited edition pair of sneakers, they “create scarcity” among assets, and are typically used to buy and sell digital artwork.

This NFT collection features First Edition character interactive cards. The cards available include Goofy, Pluto, Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and Minnie Mouse!

The faces of the cards themselves were actually designed and hand-painted by Disney artists — Morgane Keesling and Naty Kosloff. They feature backgrounds also set to match the occasion.

Each room is personalized to the character card, there will be custom music in each space, and you can flip the card to see an autograph.

You can “add to the excitement of drop day with [their] blind box offerings.” Specifically, they note that “this drop is available for purchase as a blind box” which means you won’t know which one you’ve received until you purchase it.

Under each character, you can see the list price, the editions, edition type, and its rarity. For example, Minnie Mouse has a list price of 40.00, 13,928 editions, and is a “common” level for rarity. Others are uncommon, rare, ultra rare, or even secret rare.
