NEWS: 2,000+ Flights Have Been CANCELED Over the Holiday Weekend Due to Winter Storm

Whether you’re on the East or West Coast, the weather has been crazy lately. From tsunami warnings in California to stormy days in Florida, there’s been a lot going on this week when it comes to weather.

Today, we’re taking a look at how Winter Storm Izzy is affecting flights in and out of the East Coast.

According to WESH, almost 3,000 flights were canceled up and down the East Coast on Sunday, January 16th, 2022, with over 90% of flights at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina canceled due to Winter Storm Izzy.

Air travel has been restricted to the East Coast

Winter Storm Izzy was predicted by CNN and the National Weather Service to bring ice and snow to the Southeast United States on January 16th and 17th, with the storm moving north as the week continues. This also led to tornado warnings in central Florida due to the storm system.

UPDATE: WESH reported that an additional 1,200+ flights were canceled on Monday, January 17th, with Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina impacted most severely as the winter storm continues to affect the travel industry.
