We’ve been keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Elsa as it continues to make its way along the Florida coast.
And, we’ve been keeping you updated on how the storm could impact your Disney World vacation. Here’s what you need to know about Tropical Storm Elsa currently!
Despite being bumped up into a Category 1 Hurricane last night, Elsa has since been downgraded to a Tropical Storm this Wednesday morning. According to CNN, the center of the storm was about 35 miles west of Cedar Key on Florida’s northwest coast with 65 miles per hour winds at 8AM ET. Western Florida is expected to experience heavy rain, strong gusts, flooding, wind damage, and power outages.
Due to the fact that at least 40 miles per hour winds are expected along the coast, hurricane warnings are still in place from northern Chassahowitzka to southern Taylor County in the Big Bend area.
According to CNN, meteorologists predict that Tropical Storm Elsa will bring several inches of rain in northern and western Florida. But, the eastern side of the state is also experiencing rain and wind during this time. Currently, more than 13 million people are under a tropical storm warning in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Governor Ron DeSantis has also expanded his state of emergency to 33 counties, as the Florida National Guard has deployed 60 guardsmen to help prepare for storm-related assistance.
As Tropical Storm Elsa continues to make its way around Florida, we’ll be sure to give you the latest updates you need to know. Stay tuned with AllEars for all the Disney news coming soon!
