When one thinks of the classic tale of Cinderella, the Disney animated and live-action films immediately come to mind, along with the Brandy-starring Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
And of course, who can forget Ever After: A Cinderella Story starring Drew Barrymore as the princess-to-be? But Disney doesn’t own the Cinderella fairy tale per se, which means that other adaptations can get made by other companies.
One such company is Amazon, which has decided to adapt the tale of Cinderella for a new movie starring Camila Cabello, Billy Porter, and, James Corden. In this version of the story, which is also a musical, Cinderella is a seamstress and small business owner trying to make a name for herself. And Amazon has released the first teaser for the film.
In the teaser, there doesn’t seem to be a wicked stepmother and stepsisters, so this adaptation seems to be striving to be a little different from previous ones we’ve seen.
Cinderella lands on Amazon Prime on September 2nd. We’ll continue to share more trailers with you as they release!
