We’ve got more big news about Universal Orlando’s newest theme park!

The Epic Universe theme park was announced in 2019 and slated for a 2023 opening, but construction was delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic. Just yesterday, Universal announced that construction was resuming “immediately” — and now we’ve got another update!
Universal did not announce a new opening date yesterday, but according to the Orlando Sentinel, Epic Universe is now expected to open in early 2025! Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said that Universal recently informed him of this updated timeline.

Although Universal hasn’t released details about which attractions we’ll see in the park, it has stated that Epic Universe will create over 14,000 new jobs, boosting the local economy. The construction — which will take several months to ramp up to speed due to restaffing — will create thousands more.

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said of the construction delay: “We had paused that during COVID until we felt confident enough that we could see a resumption of a great business. [Now] we feel that way.” Looks like we’ll get to experience this brand-new park in just a few years!
