We don’t know about you, but our theories about WandaVision and the bigger picture of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been swirling.
It seems like each week, another piece of the puzzle is given to us.. but it seems like that puzzle is practically as expansive as the MCU itself with all sorts of films, shows, and even comics playing into the storyline.
It’s pretty clear we’re huge Marvel fans, but we have to say that WandaVision might be the most ambitious thing that the MCU and fans have ever seen. Need more details? We’ve got you covered!
When WandaVision aired its first and second episodes back to back during its premiere, it seemed like a fun callback to sit-coms of the golden age of television with a few twists along the way. But, episode three changed all of that when the show explained what was happening outside of WestView and the implications that Wanda’s alternate reality have had.
And, of course, we started to see MAJOR cracks in Wanda’s “happy life” during episode four when Monica is booted out of her reality, dead Vision shows up, Agnes and Herb act very suspicious, and Wanda’s pregnancy is more than just unconventional.
But, the biggest and most compelling episode of the series has been episode five as Wanda even breaks the fourth wall and actually steps outside of WestView to confront the members of S.W.O.R.D. Her sheltered life has quite literally kept her and everyone else in her town inside a bubble.
We all know that’s about to change, however, as Agnes blatantly reveals she knows that the reality is a farce and Vision angrily confronts Wanda about the situation. He is a super smart AI, you know — she couldn’t keep it from him forever.
But, all of that can be chalked up to Marvel’s incredible team of storytellers (if you’re going to put it mildly). Specifically, WandaVision has been like no other show we’ve seen on a streaming service with its ability to pull details from a ridiculous amount of Marvel lore, while also setting up the future of the entire next phase of the MCU.
And, it might seem like that’s a lot to put on the shoulders of one show, but WandaVision is certainly up to the challenge. The proof is in the pudding as Marvel created the biggest brand crossover we have seen yet in just a few minutes as Evan Peters steps into Wanda’s home, meshing the X-Men version of Quicksilver and the Marvel version of the same character together.
Obviously, we have our own thoughts about what exactly is happening in the MCU right now with that huge reveal on top of the references to Fantastic Four and other franchises. Yet, it’s crucial to note that WandaVision isn’t just affecting the characters we see in the show.
WandaVision is diving into the past by bringing back events from Age of Ultron (when we first see her character) and hinting about the possible involvement of sinister corporations like Hydra through its retro commercial adaptions.
At this point in time, WandaVision is even setting up upcoming situations in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Loki, Spider-Man 3, and quite possibly the rest of the shows and movies slated for Marvel over the next few years. We may even be getting a sneak peek into the next round of Avengers films, which could easily be the Young Avengers as we’ve been introduced to Tommy and Billy now.
We think the most important part of WandaVision is the hint towards our potential next big bad after Thanos. There’s been some not-so hidden references to comic book’s Mephisto, who is a demon that could rip a hole in the universe and cause so much chaos, not even Doctor Strange would be able to clean it up right away.
The tiniest details and the biggest reveals are what have made WandaVision a massive hit and a show like no other. While we still have a few episodes left to unpack, we can firmly say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t going to be the same after WandaVision wraps up.
We’ll continue to give you all the details that you need to know about WandaVision. But, in the meantime, you’ll find us binge-watching the first five episodes…and maybe the rest of the Marvel movies and shows we can get our hands on. Stay tuned with All Ears for more Disney entertainment news!
