Did You Know About These Wild Ride Openings From Disney’s Past?

The Disney Parks have a colorful history, and that includes some pretty wild choices.

Star Tours

We were watching old Disney videos recently — as one tends to do — and we came across some wild ride opening ceremonies from Disney’s past. You’ll want to see these to believe them.

Take a look at these two wild ride openings from Disney’s past!

Astuter Computer Revue

Even huge Disney fans might not remember the Astuter Computer Revue, but this musical journey was an opening day EPCOT attraction that stood as the featured exhibit in Communicore.

The tour taught the audience about computers through the use of “The Computer Song” sung by actor Ken Jennings — nope, not the Jeopardy champ. He’s best known as the original Tobias in the Broadway premiere of  Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

This Computer Center opening featured Jennings in a bedazzled suit singing “The Computer Song” with some questionable choreography, and boy, did it make our jaws drop.

The song was even written by The Sherman Brothers! Take a look at the ceremony right here thanks to modcinema on Youtube.

Disneyland’s Star Tours

When Star Tours originally opened in 1987, some of your favorite characters took to celebrate the ribbon-cutting ceremony in perhaps the most surprising way you can imagine — through ballet.

Star Tours

Yes. You read that right. Prior to the actual ribbon-cutting, Luke, Leia, and Han put on a short ballet surrounded by Ewoks. And it is as amazing as it sounds. Of course, they were followed by a performance from Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes (the Cantina band).

It is quite the sight to see. We’re not sure ballet was ever the medium we expected to see Star Wars in, but hey, you do you Disney.
