Bob Iger stepped down as CEO and became executive chairman of The Walt Disney Company earlier this year. During an interview, Iger had stated that he seriously considered running for president during the latest election. He eventually decided against it but was open to other roles under the new administration. Iger’s name is now being floated for a key ambassador position.

According to sources of The Hollywood Reporter, Bob Iger is “at the top of President-elect Joe Biden’s wish list for a key ambassador post, namely China or the U.K.” The U.K. ambassador position is considered a highly sought-after position and Disney’s partnerships with China may put him at an advantage. (Iger was one of the main masterminds behind the opening of Shanghai Disneyland.) He was also a major donor to Biden’s presidential campaign and gave $250,000 to The Biden Victory Fund, according to public records.

Bob Iger is still associated with Disney and accepting the role might put a final end to his run with the company. He plans to officially end his contract and leave Disney in 2021. A Biden spokesperson and Disney representative both declined to comment about the possible offer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
