For decades, the Star Wars fandom has been struggling with a burning, existential question — did Boba Fett ever get out of that Sarlacc Pit?

He was the helmet that launched an entire franchise, but with Disney’s dissolution of the Expanded Universe, the question of his survival has hung in the air — until now (maybe). According to the Hollywood Reporter, Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, has been confirmed as a cast member in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, placing the most ruthless bounty hunter in the galaxy at odds with our be-helmed hero!
Morrison, who played Boba’s father Jango in the prequel trilogy, should be a familiar face to fans of the Star Wars television universe, as he’s the template that every clone soldier is based off. He’s also voiced both Jango and Boba in various video games and spin-off materials.

We first got a hint of Boba’s return in “The Gunslinger“, when his trademark spurs were spotted at the end of the episode. Now, it seems like he’ll be playing a minor role in the new season, perhaps as one of the countless bounty hunters pursuing the Child. In many ways, Boba represents the opposite of Din Djarin.
As a clone of Jango Fett, Boba is definitely biologically Mandalorian. He can trace his lineage all the way back to the Mandalorian Wars of the ancient past, where his ancestor served as Mandalore the Ultimate’s right-hand man. Din, in contrast, was adopted after being orphaned during the Clone Wars. However, Din was raised among Mandalorian traditionalists and follows the warrior’s code as a religion, while Boba spent his entire childhood among criminals and mercenaries with only a token connection to Mandalore. He’s the shadow to Din’s light. The black hat to his white hat. A perfect antagonist figure. We’re excited to have him back.
So, case closed. Boba made his way out of the Sarlacc. Right? …Right?

Well… perhaps not. We’re still not certain why the remnants of the Empire want Baby Yoda, but astute fans have noticed that Dr. Pershing, the medical professional employed by the Client, has a symbol on his uniform that resembles the one worn by cloning technicians on Kamino. Galen Erso, the architect of the Death Star, wears a similarly designed symbol resembling a Khyber Crystal to indicate his membership in the Tarkin Initiative.
This indicates that Pershing is part of a similar imperial project, one likely focused on cloning and genetic manipulation. This has made many fans wonder about how authentic this particular Boba Fett is. After all, he’s made from almost the same template as every other clone. Could this be the real thing, or is the Imperial Remnant trying to play mind games?
Speaking of iconic characters, Rosario Dawson is set to play ex-Jedi Ahsoka Tano in Season 2, making this the third Filoni-led show the Togruta has appeared in.

Hanging stole his Mandalorian armor, so he is not a true Mandalorian. Furthermore, as more clearly explained in “The Mandalorian”, Mandolorian isn’t a race but a creed. Therefore, there is nothing genetic about being Mandalorian, so Boba Fett would not have Mandalorian DNA as stated in this article.
I will get off my Star Wars fanboy soapbox now.
