With employee safety in mind, Universal Orlando has announced their own precautions that they will be putting into effect very soon.

In a letter to employees today, Universal Orlando announced that all of their team members will be required to undergo temperature screenings before each shift. This requirement goes into effect tomorrow, May 1st, where various vendors, contractors, and business visitors are still reporting to work. This news comes in the wake of Comcast’s announcement that construction has been delayed on Universal Orlando’s third gate, Epic Universe.

Anyone with a temperature of 99.9 degrees or higher will not be permitted on property. This is stricter than the Orange County Task Force’s proposed mandate of 100.4 degrees. If a high temperature is reported, the employee must wait 72 hours before being re-screened.

Bill Davis, president and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, noted to employees that “if you are not feeling well or have any symptoms, including mild cold symptoms, you should not come to property! We encourage anyone in this situation to seek medical attention as they deem appropriate.”

Davis finished the letter by noting that they would continue to update employees with safety and health guidelines going forward. At this time, Universal Orlando is closed through “at least May 31st”.
