2019’s live-action adaptation of Aladdin was a wild success, netting over $1.05 billion dollars globally.

And it seems like the sand in the glass is right for another Arabian night, because, according the The Hollywood Reporter, a sequel to the film is in the works!
Stars Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott are all set to reprise their roles in the sequel to the hit film, which also just secured screenwriters John Gatins, whose credits include Flight and Real Steel, as well as Straight Outta Compton writer Andrea Berloff. Additionally, director of the first film, Guy Ritchie, will be returning to helm the sequel.

While no other details have been released for the sequel, we are curious to see if it will follow the storyline of the animated feature’s sequel, The Return of Jafar! We’ll let you know as we find out more information.
