Get Ready to Potentially Steal the Declaration of Independence (Again): “National Treasure 3” Has a Screenwriter!

National Treasure, also known as “The Da Vinci Code for Social Studies Teachers” and “Indiana Jones and the Three Branches of Government” might be getting a third installment soon!

While nothing has been confirmed yet, the third installment in this American adventure has secured a screenwriter and producer!

The National Treasure franchise is over a decade old, having first been released in 2004. The series focuses on Benjamin Gates (Nicholas Cage), and his quest to unlock the secrets of the Founding Fathers. The third installment has been listed as “in development” for years now, but with the announcement of a potential screenwriter, things could once again get moving.

The new writer is Chris Bremner (Bad Boys For Life), with Jerry Bruckheimer as the producer and Jon Turteltaub returning as director. No word about the storyline or potential release date has been announced yet, though. It’s possible thigh might not amount to anything at all! While it’s possible this might not amount to anything at all, our fingers are crossed that we’ll have another National Treasure adventure in our future!

  1. It needs to be about something with the Statue of Liberty and Liberty island, especially since there are stories of real pirate treasure buried there. Perfect starting point using real history to build a plot around.
