Meet the Stars of The Rise of Skywalker with these New Posters!

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters December 20, and Disney has just released a Death Star-sized bundle of character posters!

We’ve been in a Star Wars frenzy here at All Ears with the upcoming opening of Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so these new character posters are really building the galactic hype!

Since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (and Rise of the Resistance) are direct (and canon!) prequels to the new film, we figured we’d use these posters as an opportunity to reacquaint you with some characters from a galaxy far, far away.

Rey (Daisy Ridley) is our heroine. A scavenger from the planet Jaaku, she’s recently discovered a connection with the mystical Force. After training with Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi, she’s gotten a firmer grasp of her powers but still seems to favor her old skills as a scavenger, especially since her lightsaber was destroyed during a climactic fight with Kylo Ren.

One of the biggest mysteries of the new trilogy is her origins: The Last Jedi revealed she was the child of ordinary scavengers, but fans are wondering if The Rise of Skywalker will add a new wrinkle to her tale.

Our antagonist is Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), son of Leia Organa and Han Solo, he’s one of the few descendants of Anakin Skywalker to still be active in the galaxy, making fans wonder if he is the one referred to in the film’s title. In The Last Jedi, he killed Supreme Leader Snoke and took control of the villainous First Order, rejecting the Light Side of the Force. Still, Rey (who he shared some romantic tension with in TLJ) still thinks he has some good in him… though Kylo believes Rey can still fall to the Dark Side as well.

Finn (John Boyega) is a former First Order Stormtrooper turned Resistance Hero and a major figure on the upcoming Rise of the Resistance attraction! His insider knowledge of the First Order has proven invaluable to the Resistance more than once, and he’s evolved from a cowardly deserter to a stalwart hero over the course of the trilogy. We’re looking forward to seeing how his story continues!

Poe Dameron (Oscar Issac) is the dashing and irreverent Resistance Pilot that inadvertently pulled Finn into the rebellion in The Force Awakens, and who remains a fan favorite to his day. Along with his trusty Astromech BB-8 (pictured at the head of this article), he’s one of the most skilled pilots in the Resistance! However, his devil-may-care attitude and disregard for rules has cost the rebellion dearly, leaving them in a precarious position at the start of the new film. Will he be able to pull the remaining rebels through? And will he do better at piloting the Millennium Falcon than I did during my last trip to Hollywood Studios?! We’ll see…

Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) is a Resistance mechanic and the heart of the rebellion. Her dedication to love and to the protection of her friends, even in the face of impossible odds, is the spark that inspires many of the other rebels. She had some amazing set pieces in The Last Jedi, so we’re curious as to where her story takes us next!

Jannah (Naomi Ackle) is a newcomer to the series. A bow-wielding warrior for the ocean moon of Kef Bir, she’s one of the more mysterious new characters in the saga. We’re looking forward to learning more about her backstory, and the reasons why she’s fighting with the Resistance!

Also new is Zorri Bliss (Keri Russell), a scoundrel and spice runner from the planet Kijimi with a mysterious connection to Poe. As a rogue, her only allegiance is to herself. Will she be drawn to aid the Resistance because of her bond with Poe, or will she betray them like the codebreaker DJ did in The Last Jedi?

In a series first, C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) is set to play a major role in The Rise of Skywalker. C-3PO has been a staple since the first scenes of A New Hope, but he’s mostly served as comic relief or a translator for R2-D2 — until now. We don’t know exactly what role he’s set to play, but the trailers imply he might not be getting out this film intact. We can only hope for our favorite golden boy’s survival come December 20th!

Another returning face? Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), Han Solo’s old friend and the previous owner of the Millenium Falcon. While he appeared in a younger form (played by Donald Glover) in Solo: A Star Wars Story, this will be his first time appearing in the main franchise since Return of the Jedi!

One final new face is bound to be familiar if you’ve been following Star Wars merchandise. The adorable D-O is a Resistance Droid made of spare parts, who seems to be infatuated with BB-8. Much like the Porgs in The Last Jedi, he seems to exist solely to be adorable, but we’ll see how his story plays out. Anyone else getting Luxo Jr. Vibes?

Rounding out the new collection are series staples Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and R2-D2, because it wouldn’t be Star Wars without them!
