While we love the heroes and villains that exist in the Star Wars universe, the droids really steal our collective hearts.
And although R2-D2 and BB-8 are two of the coolest droids around, your own droid design might be one of the new faces of the Star Wars franchise with this brand new contest!
Lucasfilm‘s Star Wars: Force for Change and FIRST have partnered together to launch the “Build My Droid” contest!
If you’ve ever wanted to become a part of the Star Wars films, now’s your chance! You can design your own droid and enter a sketch, drawing, or painting for the chance to have your droid featured in an upcoming Star Wars film! Plus, you’ll also win a ticket to the world premiere of The Rise of Skywalker in December to see the public debut of your droid on the red carpet built by Lucasfilm!
After submitting your droid, it will be judged by Star Wars Creature and Special Make-up Effects Supervisor Neal Scanlan, Lucasfilm Vice President and Creative Producer John Swartz, Lucasfilm Senior Creative Executive Pablo Hidalgo, Star Wars fan and STEM advocate Mayim Bialik, and FIRST‘s founder and inventor of the LUKE Arm Dean Kamen.
Force for Change and FIRST are looking to show the importance of STEM and arts programs in schools and to incite creativity for all ages. Participants must be 16 years or older and submit their design by November 13, 2019, on the contest’s website. Fans from the United States, Canada (except Quebec), France, Spain, Belgium, Japan, Mexico, and Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales only) are able to enter one entry per person in the “Build My Droid” contest.
