SPRING INTO STYLE WITH CINDERELLA THIS APRIL AT THE WALT DISNEY FAMILY MUSEUM

San Francisco, CA – March 21, 2012-The Walt Disney Family Museum is exploring the quality, style, and nature of the art and design of Disney films by celebrating the timeless feature-length animated film Cinderella-the classic rags-to-riches story about a beautiful girl who finds her happily-ever-after with Prince Charming through a fairy godmother, a little magic, and a glass slipper.

After its release on February 15, 1950, Cinderella quickly became the highest grossing film of the year and the profits helped the Disney Studios produce more successful feature-length films throughout the decade including Peter Pan and Alice and Wonderland.

Cinderella Style: The Evolution of Disney Animation
Sunday, April 15 at 3 p.m.
$12 general; $9 under 17

Oscar®-winning Pixar director and Disney expert Ralph Eggleston discusses the evolving design sophistication of Disney animation-specifically the post-war streamlining and innovations brought to the forefront with the production of Cinderella. Not simply focusing on art, Eggleston will also provide an understanding of the cultural context that helped shape Cinderella, and its impact on Walt’s subsequent animation production. Illustrated with rare art, photos, and film clips, this program offers insight into Walt’s effort to again make his Studio the reigning force in feature animation.

Improv for Animators

Learn the basics of improvisation through games and exercises. Tap into your creativity to be fearless and find the “truth” of the moment. Discover improvisational approaches to character creation. The class is taught by professional improviser, Jill Bourque, who created the international hit improv theater show, How We First Met.

Led by professional improviser Jill Bourque, this course will teach the basics of improv and how to apply it to voice over work. Learn how to trust and use your instincts by tapping into your creativity. Improv games and exercises will help you find your creative flow, resulting in stronger choices when you’re in the voice over booth.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM

The Walt Disney Family Museum presents the fascinating story and achievements of Walt Disney, the man who raised animation to an art, transformed the film industry, tirelessly pursued innovation, and created a global and distinctively American legacy. Opened in October 2009, the 40,000 square foot facility features the newest technology and historic materials and artifacts to bring Disney’s achievements to life, with interactive galleries that include early drawings and animation, movies, music, listening stations, a spectacular model of Disneyland and much more.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays through Monday; closed on Tuesdays and the following public holidays: New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
