Review of Mama Melrose's Lunch/Dinner

We have dined at Mama's twice and this time was better than before, and we loved our first visit! We were seated promptly and our waiter, Scooter, was great. He recommended several hits. We each tried something different and everything was superb. I had the Penne with shrimp in a Vodka cream sauce. Three people could have eaten out of the bowl and been filled. The shrimp were plump and cooked perfectly and the pasta was filled with panchetta. DH had the seafood pasta with shrimp, clams, muscles and fettuchini. MIL had the Osso Bucco which was enormous. FIL and BIL each got different flat breads. Kids each got cheese pizzas but it was a waste because they prefered to eat our adult meals. It was a fabulous meal. When dining here you absolutely feel that you've been transported to a little Italian tratoria, the decor is so enchanting. We absolutely will dine here again. I hope to get the fanasmic dining package next time.

Pros:

Smells, food, atmosphere

Cons:

Location in the park

Review of Tusker House Character Breakfast

We love the Tusker house breakfast. We dined here on 4/2 and brought my in-laws for their first visit. The food was varied enough to feel special yet familiar enough to be safe. Mickey was by far the most attentive character. He spent well over 5 minutes "chatting" with my children. Hugs and kisses and pictures galore! I know the prices are high here because of the the "big cheese" but I wish it was a little cheaper. Oh well!

Pros:

Character Interaction

Cons:

Review of Katsura Grill - Japan

We were the first to enter the restaurant after opening and had to wait 10 minutes or so for the staff to count money and get their act together before we could order. We ordered the noodle bowls and did not care for the taste of the beef...tasted oddly sweet and the noodles were very fat, not like the kind you get at the Teppan Edo. The tables were way too close together and there's no way to push your chair to get out without hitting the chair behind you.

Pros:

Green Iced Tea

Review of Category 4 - Deluxe Family Stateroom

We stayed in room 8036 and had a lovely experience. Very close to elevators which made getting around easy. Plenty of space for 2 adults and 3 kids (10,8,6). Only problem was we were right under the family pool where the deck parties took place. The night of the pirate party we could hear thumping music and people dancing above us. Kids slept right through it though.

Pros:

Beds comfy, split bathroom, plenty of room

Cons:

Noise from pool deck

Review of Disney Dining Plan

Would not make a trip to Walt Disney World without purchasing the Disney Dining Plan. My spouse and I are true fine dining fans. I must admit during our 10 days annual trips we usually leave with 14 to 16 counter service meals left over (we really have no need for them). During our trip we have our must do dinners: Ohana, Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Kona, the Yak and Yeti, LeCellier and Cinderella's Royal Table. Though we end up having to pay for at least one meal and for at least 2 days we are off property dining with family and friends who live in the Kissimee area, the Disney Dining Plan is the best thing ever. For 20 years we've been eating at the same restaurants, paying for a cocktail or two, appetizer, entree and dessert. The money we save is so great that during our October 2012 vacation I was able to purchase 9 new Mickey Mouse watches.

Pros:

Great Value, Ease of Use and Peace of Mind

We tried the brownie paw and the turtle brownie here on Sunday, April 7th, 2013. I've heard this before but honestly didn't believe it....the brownie paw is just ridiculously sweet. It had 2 inches of very sugary frosting on it, DS 11 ended up having to scrape most of it off in order to eat it.

Probably won't try the brownie paw again but the turtle brownie was very good and they had lots of other treats to go back to try.

Pros:

Great location

Cons:

Just a bit too much sugar

We had a spur of the moment dinner here on Sunday, April 7th. Great service, great food. We tried the fried green beans, egg rolls, tempura shrimp, curry stew, seared Ahi tuna salad, and veg lo mein. Everyone loved every bite 🙂

Would recommend for a nice air-conditioned, character-free meal. We will definitely return.

We ate here twice on our recent visit, April 3-April 11, 2013. Food is great, lines move quickly, staff are friendly! We recommend everything, but particularly the ribs and the pulled pork sandwich. We always eat at the pavillion around back, with a beautiful water view and a view of Expedition Everest.

Will eat here again and again!!
