Laura Gilbreath is a native of San Diego, CA. She has been making the trek up Interstate 5 to Disneyland since she was a small child and terrified of talking tikis and hitchhiking ghosts. She and her husband Lee enjoy trips to Disneyland and Walt Disney World, as well as sailings on the Disney Cruise Line.

A Summer Night at Disneyland

Posted on
Last Friday Lee and I drove to Disneyland in the afternoon (took us about two hours from San Diego, which wasn’t nearly as horrible as it can be at that time of day) and spent the evening at DCA and Disneyland. I was pleasantly surprised at how *un*crowded it was – on a Friday night … Continue reading "A Summer Night at Disneyland"

Attraction Comparison: Splash Mountain

Posted on
Continuing my series of attraction comparisons…I decided to stick with the mountains, and compare the Splash Mountain attractions at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom (MK) and Disneyland (DL). Both are located in about the same area of the park – though at MK this area is in Frontierland, and at DL it’s in Critter Country. … Continue reading "Attraction Comparison: Splash Mountain"

Disney’s California Adventure Attractions

Don’t ask me why this occurred to me in the shower the other day, but I started wondering about which Walt Disney World park Disney’s California Adventure most resembles, at least in terms of the attractions. With Animal Kingdom, it shares “It’s Tough to Be a Bug”. Walt Disney World Attraction Disney’s California Adventure Attraction … Continue reading "Disney’s California Adventure Attractions"

Disneyland: Staying On-site vs Off-site

As many of you know, when considering a trip to Walt Disney World, the issue of whether to stay on-site or off-site can be rather hotly debated. At WDW staying on-site certainly has advantages with its access to Disney transportation, proximity to the parks, and the wide range of resorts (and room rates!) available. At … Continue reading "Disneyland: Staying On-site vs Off-site"

Today is Disneyland’s 52nd birthday. I’d have to say that Walt’s Big Experiment looks pretty good 52 years later! This year we’ve already seen the the second annual Disney’s California Food and Wine Weekends, and the openings of Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island and the new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. Coming up, Disney has … Continue reading "Happy Birthday, Disneyland!"

Attraction Comparison: Space Mountain vs. Space Mountain

As a blog topic, Deb Wills suggested that readers might be interested in a comparison of attractions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. It sounded like an intriguing idea to me…see what you think! I thought I’d start with one of my favorites: Space Mountain. Which is at Disneyland in California, and at Magic Kingdom … Continue reading "Attraction Comparison: Space Mountain vs. Space Mountain"

Disneyland Tips

Posted on
I’ve been asked about “Tips” for visiting Disneyland…so here’s a few things that I hope will be helpful. 1. Be at the park when it opens. You can do a LOT of rides in the first couple of hours after the park opens when most of us lazy southern California people (who have to drive … Continue reading "Disneyland Tips"

Disneyland: What’s New, What’s Next?

In a recent blog entry on the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage press event I mentioned that I attended a “What’s New, What’s Next” presentation, and that I might talk about that in a future blog entry. So here it is. The session was held in the “Honey I Shrunk the Audience” theater, and made good … Continue reading "Disneyland: What’s New, What’s Next?"

Taking the Scopa Challenge

Mike Scopa has been writing some interesting blog entries on running and one of the things he’s been talking about is the new Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 13K run, to be held this October 27. It just so happens that Lee and I will be in Florida then, on our bi-annual Food and Wine … Continue reading "Taking the Scopa Challenge"

The Subs are Back!

Whew…the Finding Nemo event was a whirlwind – it’s hard to believe I was only away from home for a total of 30 hours – it sure seemed a lot longer than that! Opening Day yesterday (Monday) was quite an experience and I was excited to be part of it. Even first thing in the … Continue reading "The Subs are Back!"
