If you’re like us, you think of the Magical Express every time you go to Disney World. This long-extinct service was truly the signal that your trip was beginning, and we still miss it all these years later.

The thing that’s closest to this loss is the Mears Connect bus service! Mears Connect is a way that you can easily get from the airport to Disney World and back, and we’ve appreciated its presence over the past few years. If you use this service or are planning to use it, you should know it’s about to get temporarily more expensive.
If you’re hopping on a Mears Connect bus any time soon, it’s important to know that it’s going to be a bit more expensive than normal. While checking in on the Mears website, we noticed a change that will impact users for the foreseeable future.

Along the top of the website, we noticed a banner that says “Please Be Advised: A 3% Fuel Surcharge Will Be Added to All Reservations Until Further Notice – Thank You.” While the company doesn’t detail why this charge is being implemented, it’s easy to assume it is due to the rising gas prices across the country.

The website didn’t detail if there is an expected end to this surcharge, so it could go on for a while. While this 3% isn’t a welcome change, this is still one of the most affordable ways to get from MCO to Disney World! The Standard Mears Connect is a shared ride service where transportation is provided in charter-style buses or vans. Mears vehicles leave Orlando International Airport every 20-30 minutes, heading for each Disney World Resort Area. Your bus or van will likely make multiple stops at Disney World hotels. The price includes all tolls and surcharges.

Prices are based on how many people are in your party. A standard one-way fee for adults begins at $16, children are $13, and kiddos under 3 are free! Another option you can explore is Express Mears. This is still a shared ride experience with other guests, but your hotel will be the first stop after leaving the airport and the last stop before heading to the airport. If you’re interested in using the Express connection, it is a round-trip only service, so Express is not available one-way, and pricing is based on your group. For four people, it is $250, and each additional passenger will be $55 per person.

If you want to learn more about the Mears Connect service, we have the details right here. This temporary price increase will hopefully end soon, but you can be sure we will update you here! As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more travel news, updates, hacks, and more.
