Disney World can get HOT. Even if you’re from the hotter areas of the world like me, once you add in the humidity and that bright Florida sunshine, dealing with the heat can be hard. We’ll do just about anything to cool down.

One way we like to do that is with cooling towels. These things can really help in a pinch and are an affordable way to cool down when you need. Here are a few things that we wish we knew before buying a pack!
You’ll Probably Get Wet

While you should squeeze out the water once you dump your cooling towel in them, your t-shirt will likely get wet, and if that bothers you, you might want to put them somewhere else on your body or use a different tool to keep you cool. Some of our team were bothered by the wet shirt, but others thought it packed a bit more of a coolness, too.
You’ll Want to Pour COLD Water On Them

Don’t settle for warm water on this one! You’ll want to grab free cups of ice water from quick service restaurants around Disney or use cold water from a water bottle. Warm water won’t help you out here, but will instead wrap a warm, wet towel around your neck, which isn’t very cooling.
They Only Last a Few Hours

This is not a tool you’ll put water on in the morning, and they’ll stay cold all day. You’ll need to dunk them in cold water every now and again to reactivate the coldness, but there are some things you can do to keep them cold longer, like soaking them in cold water or putting them in the refrigerator.
You Can Place Them in Other Places Than Your Neck

While the back of the neck is the most popular, you can place them in a waistband or on the back of your shirt, too. For little ones in strollers, you can place it on legs or stomachs, too. There are endless possibilities!
You Might Want to Use Them WITH Other Cooling Products

These are great for that extra cooling boost, but you might want to pair them with other items like a handheld fan to help keep you cool. Since the idea is to have a cool, wet towel, imagine how extra powerful it is with a little extra fan?
You’ll Want a Bag When You’re Done With Them

Once the weather cools down or you don’t want to carry it around anymore, you’ll want somewhere to put them that won’t get the rest of your bag wet. Don’t forget to bring a plastic bag or stop by a store at Disney World to grab one.
If you’re looking at buying some, check out our favorite Cooling Towels!

They come in a four-pack in different colors, so everyone in the family can have their own. We also love that they come with small plastic bags to store them in when they’re wet, and you can clip them to the outside of your backpack. They’re also on sale to make the decision to buy them even easier.
