We’ve Got Great News If You’re Driving to Disney World Soon

If you’ve ever driven to Disney World, whether driving from your home or in a rental car from the airport, you have probably noticed that Orlando gets a lot of traffic, especially around Disney World.

There’s one road in particular that’s almost always congested, Ficquette Road. This is a road that runs behind Magic Kingdom. According to My News 13, this road will soon be widened to make driving around the area a lot easier.

The widening of Ficquette Road is expected to start in early 2026. The road runs behind Magic Kingdom and helps connect Horizon West to Windermere. The road currently carries about 22,000 vehicles per day, meaning it’s very busy. In 20 years, that’s projected to grow to around 38,000 vehicles per day, meaning it’s going to need that widening.

The road will be expanded to four lanes and a roundabout will replace the intersection at Fiquette/Reams/Summerlake Park. This project also includes a raised grassy median, a shared-use trail on the road’s west side, and a sidewalk along the road’s east side.

Overall, construction should take around two years, so if you are traveling in that area, you may notice some construction work, which could slow you down. If you’re heading somewhere and need to be there by a certain time, you’ll want to account for that.

After the project is completed, though, you’ll be able to get around the area a lot faster with a lot less congestion.
