A small fire broke out at the demolition site of the Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida on the morning of October 10th.

According to the Orlando Fire Department, their crews are “working a small active fire on the tracks of a closed coaster,” per local news affiliate WESH News.
Videos of the fire were shared on social media and by news outlets. The fire appears to stretch across a span of the roller coaster track, and fire crews were able to respond to the emergency.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit permanently closed on August 18th, 2025, after dominating the skyline of Universal Studios Orlando and CityWalk for 16 years.

Universal quickly began work on taking down the Maurer Sohne-manufactured coaster, with major sections of track dismantled within days of the August 17th final rides. Rumors have swirled about the coaster’s replacement, with franchises such as Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, and The Fast and the Furious discussed by fans online. Universal has yet to confirm what’s coming, though construction has begun to implement changes.

At this time, it’s still unclear how the fire started. We will continue to share updates as the story develops.
