The end of an era is looming at Disneyland Resort.
The Red Car Trolley has been an institution at Disney California Adventure since its debut in 2012, but Disney has recently announced it will be closing to make way for the Avengers Campus expansion. We didn’t have an official closing date — until now.
Heads up! The Red Car Trolley at Disney California Adventure will be CLOSING on February 9th, 2025 to make way for construction on the Avengers Campus expansion. The last date to ride the Red Car Trolley will be February 8th, 2025.
The Red Car Trolley made its debut in California Adventure on Buena Vista Street in 2012. It features two replicas of Pacific Electric trolley cars similar to the ones you might have seen in Southern California in the 1900s through the 1960s. The trolleys debuted with a newly-reimagined California Adventure, meaning that they’re not just iconic, but also symbolic. Both trolleys are battery-powered, despite the overhead wires and trolley poles that are generally there to make them seem more authentic.
Disney announced the closure of this attraction a while back, we just didn’t have an official final date yet. Now that we know, we’ll be planning our final rides on this trolley that will close in just over two months.
Disney is expanding Avengers Campus and creating two new new attractions for that land: Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab. In order to build this expansion, Disney will have to remove the Red Car Trolley barn, meaning the ride will have to be discontinued.
