Talented voice actor Peter Renaday, known for his role as the voice of Master Splinter in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, has passed away. The actor died at age 89 on September 8th, 2024, in Burbank, California.

Renaday performed in hundreds of films and TV series, including voice and live-action work in films like Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, The Aristocats, The Love Bug, Alvin & The Chipmunks, The Rescuers, and The Black Cauldron.
Peter Renaday was born on June 9, 1935 in New Iberia, Louisiana. In 1979, he married Florence “Flo” June Daniel, an executive secretary in the Walt Disney Studios music department.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles voice actor Townsend Coleman shared a post on X in response to the news. The statement read, in part, “Folks, I’m devastated this morning to learn of the passing yesterday of our dear sensei, Peter Renaday. Pete was one of the most genuine, salt of the earth people I have ever known and I will miss him dearly.”

At this time, authorities have not shared a cause of death, but according to Deadline, “Natural causes are suspected.”
Throughout Renaday’s career, the voice actor lent his voice to a range of characters. Renaday voiced the Abraham Lincoln animatronic, who recites the Gettysburg Address at Disney World’s The Hall of Presidents attraction and voiced the original animatronic bear characters named Henry and Max at Magic Kingdom’s original Country Bear Jamboree show.
