NEW Details Revealed for Theme Park Expansion Teased by Disney

Shanghai Disney Resort previously shared that they are in the preliminary planning stages of new construction!

They said that “initial preparation work for construction” has begun in the area adjacent to Zootopia Land, which opened in 2023. And now, we have an update!

In typical Disney fashion, they’re keeping the details pretty quiet, but we do know that construction has started, and the construction is not for an expansion of Zootopia land. This will be themed to something else entirely — and now we know it will include some type of roller coaster!

According to a municipal land report, it looks like they’re working on building a new roller coaster as part of this expansion.

From what we can tell, the ride has both a forward launch and a backward launch. It looks like the loading station will be at the center of the building with a merchandise shop near the front.

As of now, we still don’t have any real details on what this ride might be or what sort of theming it might have — but it’s still exciting! During the initial announcement, Disney said, “The project work is at the initial planning stage and resort shareholders and management look forward to providing more updates as work progresses in the future.”

They shared that the goal is to make Shanghai Disneyland a multi-day experience “for guests near and far.” We can’t wait to find out what else Disney has in store for this expansion at Shanghai Disneyland.
