The countdown is on for the current iteration of a popular Disney attraction.

Tokyo DisneySea is gearing up for a big year of changes and additions, but over at Tokyo Disneyland, one major ride is about to undergo an overhaul that will take three years to complete!
Space Mountian is a Disney Parks icon, with five versions currently operational. Tokyo Disneyland’s Space Mountain, however, is about to undergo a massive renovation that isn’t scheduled to be completed until 2027. However, the park is hosting a temporary special event to honor the legendary ride before it closes!

From April 9th through July 31st, 2024., Tokyo Disneyland will host “Celebrating Space Mountain: The Final Ignition!” a special event that will offer guests the opportunity to ride the current version of Space Mountain before it closes at the end of the day on July 31st.

Additionally, the event will include special decorations around the Space Mountain area, a space-themed photo spot, special merchandise, and event-inspired menu offerings.

The photo area will feature motifs of the current version of the Space Mountain “spacecraft,” where guests can snap pictures before the ride changes.

Special merchandise includes an event-themed pouch, drawstring bag, tumbler, tissue box cover, and clear folder.

Special upcycled Space Mountain cast member patch badges will also be made available as part of the “Tokyo Disney Resort Circulating
Smiles” program.

Tomorrowland Terrace will serve a Sparking Jelly Drink (Coca-Cola and Lemon-Vanilla) infused with passion fruit jelly and lemon, and popcorn wagons around the park will offer popcorn in Space Mountain-themed boxes.

Tokyo Disneyland is also celebrating the evolution of Space Mountain with commemorative tokens and special stickers that will be distributed in Tomorrowland, as well as a Premium Sweets Set offering at the Hyperion Lounge at Disney Ambassador Hotel and a special “Celebrating Space Mountain: The Final Ignition!” day pass design that will be available for purchase at Disney Resort Line station ticket machines.

Per a press release, the new version of Tokyo Disneyland’s Space Mountain “will maintain its original concept as an indoor coaster but will have enhanced performance and immersive special effects that will provide guests with even more thrills.”
