We’ve been spending some time over at Universal Orlando!

What better way to feel part of the action of the movies, than by hopping on some exciting, thrill rides in Universal Studios and Island of Adventure? You can adventure through time with Doc from Back to Future, hang out with dinosaurs at Jurassic Park, or go on a high-speed chase with the Fast and the Furious crew. It may not be Disney, but we are fans of the action! However, on January 8th, we noticed a few rides were slow to open in the morning.
Several attractions were delayed to open today, January 8th. When we first arrived at Universal Studios, four rides and an entire area toward the back of the park were still closed!
Universal Studios has delayed the opening of some areas and attractions towards the back of the park. The Team Member we spoke to told us they’re just testing it out for now but haven’t been told when it will stop. ? pic.twitter.com/CW9zVGeiQv

E.T. Adventure, Men In Black: Alien Attack, The Simpsons Ride, and Twirl ‘n’ Hurl all had a delayed opening until 10AM.

And the whole Central Park section of the park was also closed off due to the delayed opening. At this point, this is a trial run of delaying opening times for certain areas such as Central Park.

In the meantime, you could meet Doc from Back to the Future who was standing out front of the closed area!

The Team Member we spoke to said they were just trying out the delayed openings for the time being. They were not given a timeline when these areas will go back to opening on time — if they go back to opening on time.

For example, Disney will often have delayed openings for certain rides and/or lands that they keep closed during early entry times but then open later at the regular opening time. So it’s very possible that we could start seeing Universal starting to do something similar in their parks.

This kind of thing can happen from time to time, so it’s important to stay up to date by using the Universal Orlando app! Parks will test out different techniques like delayed openings to see how it affects crowd flow, so check with Team Members for any updates that may occur while you’re there.
