One thing is certain at Disney World — your plan will not go according to plan.

Storms will ruin your ride strategy by shutting down outdoor rides. You’ll run late to your dining reservation. You could even get stuck on the Monorail or the Skyliner. We’ve been there. We get it. And if you’re at Disney World today, there is one problem that could affect your day.
If you are a frequent user of the My Disney Experience app, then you’ll know that there have been many technical difficulties with it lately. We’ve had some recent trouble with Genie+ working first thing in the morning and other features have had downtime in the middle of a busy day as well.

On Sunday, October 8th, we opened the Disney World app to find this pop-up message. It says, “At this time, new selections, purchases or modifications to Disney Genie+ service features are temporarily unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

When we clicked on the Genie+ part of the app and the tip board, we got this page every time, even after several minutes of waiting.

So what should you do if you are using Genie+ and experience technical problems when trying to use the service? First of all, practice patience. We know — it can be incredibly frustrating to pay for a service that does not work. You can go to Guest Relations Cast Members and politely ask for help.

In this case, sometimes it just takes playing around. We quit the app, reopened it, and then it seemed to be working like normal. Keep playing around with it and it may just start working for you.
