UPDATE: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has reopened since we first reported on this story. We’ll continue to keep an eye on wait times and will update you if there are any further changes.
Every once in a while, guests may need to be evacuated off of a ride for a number of reasons, most commonly due to a ride malfunctioning and experiencing temporary downtime.

However, we are learning of a more urgent evacuation that reportedly took place this afternoon in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
News 6 reporter and producer Landon McReynolds shared on Twitter that guests had to be evacuated off of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster after smoke was detected in the building. No fire was seen and nobody was injured. When we spoke to Cast Members, we were told that the ride had been closed for the past couple of hours “due to technical difficulties.”
JUST IN: Guests on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster had to be evacuated. Disney tells @news6wkmg there was no fire but smoke in the building. Nobody was hurt and the ride is in the process of reopening. #WaltDisneyWorld pic.twitter.com/FaCqv18T7o

According to McReynolds, the ride is currently in the process of reopening, though a Cast Member stationed at the entrance of the ride told us that there is no estimated time of when that may happen. They were hoping that the ride would reopen sometime today, but there was no further information on if that would happen. The last time we checked My Disney Experience, guests with Genie+ were still able to book Lightning Lane reservations for later this evening.

We’ll keep an eye on this situation as it develops and we will share if we hear of any updates! Be sure to follow along for more of the latest news and updates from Disney World.
