Dealing with the pandemic has been a long and winding road, especially for the state of Florida.

As a tourism hotspot, Florida case numbers have seen some ups and downs throughout the past year and a half. Back in July, they hit a big spike, causing health and safety restrictions to return to many places where they’d previously been relaxed. Now, it looks like things are slowly getting better.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Florida reported 2505 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, which means that the 7-day average number of new cases is below 3000 for the first time since July 7th, 2021.

The 7-day average for daily new cases is now sitting at 2870, while the 7-day average for daily deaths sits at 240. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 3,614,272 confirmed cases of COVID in Florida and at least 57,303 Floridians have died.

Hospitalization numbers are starting to decrease slightly as well. As of Wednesday, 3,153 people in Florida were hospitalized with COVID-19, which is slightly higher than Tuesday’s numbers, but a 24.9% decrease from the week prior.

We’ll make sure to keep you updated with any health and safety updates in Florida, especially as we approach the holiday season when travel is at its peak. Stay tuned to AllEars.
