It has been a whirlwind year of new safety measures and health precautions!

Travelers have had to jump through many hoops since March of 2020 to visit theme parks, cross country borders, and fly on planes. Many places around the world still have restrictions on travel, but now one of our neighboring countries is beginning to relax those rules for the fully vaccinated!
According to CTV News, Canada will be lifting many travel restrictions for permanent residents, certain foreign nationals, and Canadian citizens who are fully vaccinated starting on July 5th.

These new guidelines go into effect on July 5th at 11:59PM EDT. Travelers who enter Canada and are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to self-isolate for 14 days, take a test on day 8, or stay in a quarantine hotel upon arrival.

These new rules don’t apply to anyone who is not a citizen and is visiting for non-essential reasons or citizens who aren’t yet fully vaccinated. In order to be considered fully vaccinated, you must have received a full series of a vaccine authorized by Health Canada, including Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD, and Johnson & Johnson, 14 days before entering the country.

Proof of vaccine will be required in order to be exempted from quarantine measures. The information can be submitted through the government’s ArriveCAN app before arriving in the country. The government is also requiring all travelers to disclose vaccination status at the border, whether entering by air or land transportation.
