Disneyland’s reopening remains contested in California government.

Earlier this month, California State Assembly members proposed a bill to speed up the reopening of major California theme parks, including Disneyland. After garnering support from Anaheim officials, the bill has now been voted on by a new group.
According to Yahoo, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted in support of the bill to reopen Disneyland and other theme parks earlier.

Under current California reopening guidelines, theme parks with a capacity of fewer than 15,000 guests can reopen in the moderate tier. But, large theme parks, like Disneyland, may not reopen until the state reaches the minimal tier of COVID-19 cases.

The bill would override the guidelines and allow all theme parks to open in the same tier. If the bill does not pass, Disneyland and other large theme parks in the state would likely remain closed through the spring or summer of 2021.

L.A. Supervisor Kathryn Barger sent a letter of support to the bill’s sponsors noting, “With full outdoor operations and the ability to maintain physical distancing, theme parks across the country have proven that they can safely reopen.”

The bill may be heard in committee on March 7th to discern support. Stay tuned to AllEars for the latest update!
