There’s no question that the holiday season at Disney World is going to look a little different this year. Certain events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party as well as EPCOT’s Candlelight Processional have been canceled for 2020, and the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Celebration will be “re-imagined.”

On our visit to Magic Kingdom today, we happened to spot some work happening around Cinderella Castle that may give us some hints for what we can expect this holiday season!
A stage was installed in front of the castle this morning! From the photos it appears to be a temporary setup for some sort of filmed event. At this time Disney hasn’t confirmed what the stage is for, although this is typically the time of year when tapings take place for Disney’s Christmas Day Special.

Disney also hasn’t announced in what specific ways the Christmas Day Special will be “re-imagined,” although we can expect some changes to adapt to social distancing guidelines. We also know that this year’s special should include highlights from previous years.

Whether this stage is for the Christmas Day Special or for something else entirely, we’ll keep a watchful eye on Cinderella Castle to learn more about what exactly this set up is for!

We will not be there for the actual holiday. We leave Pennsylvania January 1 2021. We will spend 7 days camped at Fort Wilderness, before going somewhere else for the rest of the winter. A relative tells us there are many less wait lines and the place is still magical. Can’t wait! In the last 2o years we have missed WDW twice!
First week of December!
