The VOID, which operates Virtual Reality (VR) locations at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts, has teamed up with mall operator Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) to open 25 new outposts in the U.S. and Europe by 2022, both companies announced Thursday morning.
The new locations will pop up in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego this summer. Other locations will open over the next few years in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Chicago, Copenhagen, Oberhausen, San Jose, Stockholm and Vienna.
In addition to its locations at Disney Springs in Orlando and Downtown Disney District in Anaheim, The VOID currently operates 12 other locations in cities including Las Vegas, Santa Monica, Toronto and Dubai.
At the Disney sites, there are two VR experiences that guests can try: Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, which has been open since late 2017, and Ralph Breaks VR (featuring Wreck-It Ralph and friends), which opened late last year.

The Walt Disney Company and ILMxLAB (Lucasfilm’s award-winning immersive entertainment division) have collaborated with The VOID on both of these experiences. In addition, The VOID and ILMxLAB have announced that they also will collaborate with Marvel Studios on an untitled Marvel experience coming in 2019. Three other original Disney hyper-reality experiences will follow, in collaboration with Walt Disney Animation Studios.
The expansion of the VR experiences into shopping centers will bring this new form of entertainment to even more people. There has been no word as yet on which VR experiences will be available in the new locations, or when other VR experiences will be offered.
