Can you ever get too much Muppets? We don’t think so, and that’s why we’re riding Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets every chance we get. We’re still excited about the special episode of The Muppet Show that aired earlier this year, and every Halloween, we HAVE to watch The Muppets Haunted Mansion.
Well, The Muppets are now getting ready to take over something new. The Muppets are about to invade the world of Marvel Comics in a special one-shot book with brand new Muppets-meets-Marvel stories.
The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe #1 will land in comic book stores in September and will be a one-shot celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show. It will feature brand new stories bringing The Muppets together with some of Marvel’s most iconic characters. There will even be a collection of variant covers for the book, so you’ll want to collect them all.
The comic will feature a variety of stories, including the following:
- When Rowlf is kidnapped by Mojo to help launch a new streaming service, The Muppets have to team up with Spider-Man, Black Panther, Wolverine, Emma Frost, and more to save the day. The story is by Chip Zdarsky and Pete Woods.
- Kyle Starks and Mike Henderson wrote a story that brings Bruce Banner and Hank Pym to Muppet Labs to meet with Dr. Bunsen and Beaker. Expect everything to go wrong.
- In a story by Ashley Allen and Paco Medina, Clea falls ill from a strange virus that Doctor Strange can’t cure, so they turn to the Swedish Chef for help.
- Pigs in Space joins Rocket Raccoon and Groot on a fun adventure in a story by MacKenzie Cadenhead and David Baldeon.
“It has been exciting for The Muppets Studio to collaborate with Marvel Comics in a new and unique way to bring the personality, humor, and mayhem of The Muppets into the Marvel Universe and vice versa,” said Leigh Slaughter, vice president of The Muppets Studio. “To do this during the 50th anniversary year of The Muppet Show makes this project even more meaningful.”
