It’s finally official — there’s a new sheriff in town at The Walt Disney Company!

Today, Bob Iger has officially stepped down as CEO, passing the torch to Josh D’Amaro. We’ve been anticipating this change even before it was officially announced earlier this year. So, what’s next?

As of March 18th, Josh D’Amaro officially became the new CEO of The Walt Disney Company. With D’Amaro moving up, Bob Iger is stepping down to Senior Advisor. Alongside Josh D’Amaro, Dana Walden has also officially become the new President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company.

All of the roles have been officially updated on The Walt Disney Company website.

Josh D’Amaro has been with the company for nearly three decades and has seen a lot of success as Chairman of Disney Parks & Experiences. We have seen his impact on the company in amazing and innovative ways, especially recently, with all of the changes taking place at Disney World right now.

When you click on his profile on The Walt Disney Company website, you’ll see Josh D’Amaro’s strategic vision, “priorities aimed at uniting human creativity with cutting-edge technology to create unforgettable storytelling experiences that deepen Disney’s enduring bond with fans and consumers.” We think the company is in good hands!

As we mentioned before, Dana Walden has now moved from Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment to President and Chief Creative Officer. Walden has been in the entertainment industry for a long time, working 25 years at 21st Century Fox, before coming to Disney in 2019 with the company’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. When looking at her bio, she’s now “guiding creative strategy across the company’s entertainment touchpoints to deliver the world’s most beloved storytelling to fans across the many ways they choose to enjoy it.”

Now, what about Bob Iger? Bob has been Disney’s CEO for two separate tenures, totalling nearly 17 years. Bob Iger has a MASSIVE impact during his time as CEO, acquiring Pixar in 2006, Marvel in 2009, Lucasfilm in 2012, and 21st Century Fox in 2019. During his time, Shanghai Disney Resort also opened, and more than 30 films have each grossed more than $1 billion at the global box office. Now, Bob Iger will act as Senior Advisor, still involved, but in a much smaller role.

We’re entering a new era, and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. We think that Josh D’Amaro is the best man for the job as Bob Iger steps away, and we look forward to all of his plans for Disney in the future.
